July 2022: HRH The Countess of Forfar
Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex and Forfar visited Capability Scotland’s Riccarton Service in Edinburgh on 29 June to celebrate the charity’s 75th Anniversary.
The Countess was welcomed to one of the charity’s Edinburgh day opportunities centres by Chief Executive of Capability Scotland, Brian Logan, Lord Hardie, Capability Scotland’s Honorary President and Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, Cllr Robert Aldridge, as well as service users and staff from across the organisation.
Known to have a strong personal interest in the opportunities available for disabled people, The Countess was given a tour of the activities taking place in the service, where Her Royal Highness took part in baking and artwork activities before enjoying afternoon tea and cutting Capability Scotland’s anniversary cake.
Brian Logan, Chief Executive, said “It was such a delight to welcome The Countess of Wessex. The people we support and our staff team loved meeting Her Royal Highness and it was such a wonderful way to conclude our 75th-anniversary celebrations.”
The Countess ended her visit by planting a memorial rose in the gardens to mark both the anniversary of the charity and the passing of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who was Capability Scotland’s Patron for over 60 years.
