A Christmas Throwback!

Annette and Tesco selection box donation

Upper Springland residents and staff visited Tesco, Crieff Road, in November when the opportunity arose for staff and the people they support to fundraise by offering to pack shoppers' bags at the checkout in return for a small donation.

In addition to the bag pack some individuals from Capability Scotland joined Jollity Express, Makaton Choir for a short performance in the entrance. Jollity Express stopped shoppers and Tesco staff while they enjoyed watching the signed songs. Shoppers were very generous and donated as they left the shop. The bag pack and Makaton Choir performance raised a total of £715.13.

The feedback from staff to the Community Champion and Tesco Management was so positive that Annette the Community Champion invited Jollity Express,  Makaton Choir back in the run-up to Christmas for another performance and opportunity to fundraise. Jollity Express returned in late December for a Christmas performance. The Makaton choir, which includes several staff and individuals from Capability Scotland raised £172.18 and were treated to mince pies and refreshments after their short performance.

Following these events, Upper Springland has been so grateful and appreciative of donations from Tesco! The Community Champion has brought selection boxes, mince pies, artificial Christmas trees, plants, wreaths and even bedding for the people we support!
