HRH The Countess of Forfar Visits
Capability Scotland hosted HRH The Countess of Wessex and Forfar on 29 June 2022.
The Countess visited our Riccarton Service, in Edinburgh. She was welcomed by Brian Logan, our Chief Executive, Lord Hardie, our Honorary President, Liz Gold, our Riccarton Service Manager, and Ben Bradbury, Operations Manager. She was given a posy of flowers by our customer, James, which were kindly donated to us by Pollination.
Some baking was on the agenda as part of our tour of Riccarton, with The Countess helping us in baking some tasty desserts with Helen.
The Countess enjoyed taking part in arts and crafts as well as viewing artwork around the service, including our recently completed Vines of Time project (more on this soon!).
We served some afternoon tea to celebrate our 75th anniversary, with The Countess of Forfar (in Scotland) cutting our birthday cake and meeting many customers from across Capability Scotland. We showed our Anniversary Poem by Scots' poet, Ellen Renton, with The Countess asking for a personal copy! You can view the poem here: https://youtu.be/PBwyWcGKdK4
Before departing, The Countess planted a memorial rose, marking both our 75th anniversary and the passing of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who was our royal Patron for over 60 years.
It was an absolute honour to welcome HRH The Countess of Wessex to celebrate with us, and we extend our sincere thanks for her being able to find time to join us.
