Postural Care Training

1

Did you know that May is #CorrectPostureMonth? So, what better time to highlight what Capability Scotland does to deliver postural care and protect the posture of the people we support?

People with movement difficulties are at heightened risk of harmful and potentially life-limiting postural changes. Learning and implementing the correct practices are crucial to ensuring our staff are equipped to support individuals to live as independently and as comfortably as possible.

We're delighted to have been awarded £10,000 from the Hospital Saturday Fund. This funding will allow us to deliver online and practical Postural Care training to all staff who physically support around 1,000 disabled children, young people and adults across our services. Check out our first cohort of staff receiving practical Postural Care training (above).

The feedback on this training has been amazing and we are so grateful to have been given this opportunity to empower our staff to deliver the very best, exemplary support to the people in our care.

One staff member remarked: “I have used the knowledge from the training every day at work since”,  with another stating: “I have been in health and social care for 25 years and postural care is not something that I knew a lot about until I worked for Capability Scotland.”

25 Scottish Charities were awarded at the stunning reception at the Glasgow City Chambers. It was a true honour for Capability Scotland to be amongst them.

Thank you again to The Hospital Saturday Fund and our wonderful, enthusiastic staff for their commitment to improving the lives of disabled people across Scotland.

We believe in an inclusive Scotland where everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard, contribute to society and fulfil their

potential, and you can support this in so many ways by getting involved in our work: https://www.capability.scot/getinvolved
