Stanmore House Life Skills supports people aged 18 and over. We provide a range of support options and families can pick from the types of support we offer. We’re located at the Stanmore House campus, just outside Lanark. We believe that, regardless of an individual’s disabilities, they should have the right to live their lives how they choose, using the same facilities as everyone else in the community.

We Offer

  • support seven days a week;
  • support to those across South Lanarkshire;
  • our own program of structured activities;
  • respite on the Stanmore House campus.

Our Ethos

8ac384b4 b3d1 4ec6 b2f9 fdb9ba2964cdThe support we offer is underpinned by the following ethos:

  • people are supported to make informed choices and develop skills that will support them in their independence;
  • provide a safe and structured environment in which young adults can reach their fullest potential;
  • support people to build and develop relationships within the community;
  • support people to meet their aspirations in life;
    build on and develop a person’s knowledge and skills.

Our Approach

At Stanmore House Life Skills we have three elements to the service. Support can be offered under a single area or families can choose what type of support they want and when. We like to call this the menu of options.

For example, a person’s week might be that between Monday and Wednesday, they come along to the campus, on Thursday they are supported to attend a local activity class, Thursday night they have a night staying with us for respite, and on Friday they attend college.

Building Based: This is where a young person will be able to come along to the Stanmore House campus to meet with peers and take part in planned, structured activities. We also offer the opportunity to develop their own independent key living skills. This part of the support can be offered seven days a week.

8c11693b 212c 46f6 9840 0baeb0bd4070Community Access: we support young people in accessing community activities, such as attending music, drama, or dance classes. We’ve worked to take people on their first trip to Glasgow or even just a trip to their local cinema. Our Support Workers would start and end the day at your home.

Respite: we can provide respite to meet a person’s needs, meaning we can be flexible on length and frequency of stay. As part of the respite support, we also use this as an opportunity to develop someone’s own key living skills.

Whatever your aspirations or needs, we are here to help and support you.
