Our Approach
Corseford School is a specialist school that provides care and education for children and young people from P1 to S6 with complex additional support needs. Our School is located on an exciting and large campus near Paisley in Renfrewshire. Our skilled and experienced interdisciplinary team provide exemplary education, health support and care to our wonderful children and young people.
Scotland’s curriculum – Curriculum for Excellence – is used to its best advantage to deliver individualised educational programmes for our children and young people allowing them to gain the knowledge, skills and attributes needed for their lives in the 21st century.
In our Senior Phase, young people have the opportunity to succeed through individually selected and accredited courses in life and vocational skills through the National Qualification Framework.
Our key Transition Phase gives our most senior students the opportunities to explore post-school options with a curriculum that maximises skills for life, ensuring a successful transition into adulthood.
Health and Well-Being
Children and young people at Corseford School benefit from our own highly skilled full-time Allied Health Team that includes:
Physiotherapy
Specialists in movement, the team supports our children and young people with their physical development and functional independence. This allows our learners to make the best of their ability as, through movement, they learn about themselves and their environment.
Speech & Language Therapy
Our therapists work with children and young people to enable them to maximise their own individual potential in communication. This involves using specialist high and low tech communication aids in an inclusive communication environment. When required, they also support our learners with safe eating, drinking and swallowing.
Occupational Therapy
The team support our children and young people to participate in meaningful, everyday activities providing appropriate support and personal challenge. Therapists provide strategies and functional equipment to maximise independence.
Dietetics
Our experienced Dietitian assists children and young people to optimise their nutritional intake. Working closely with families, we support learners with faltering growth, food allergies, restrictive eating and enteral feeding.
“Having Allied Health Professionals resident at the School has made a major difference in the great progression that Teejay is making as they are working with him on a daily basis”
