Stanmore House Residential, Lanark

Stanmore House Residential acts as both a boarding element to Stanmore House School and a residential and respite service for the children of Scotland. We also offer an emergency respite service to any child who may need this. We’re situated on the grounds of Stanmore House School, just outside the historic town of Lanark. We provide residential care and support for children with complex and additional needs, including physical or learning disabilities, between the ages of 5 and 20.

Home Away from Home

Our accommodation for children is custom-designed for differing and complex needs. We offer individual bedrooms fitted with environmental controls and tracking hoists, and we’re happy to provide anything else that a young person might need to help them feel more comfortable. Rooms are within a bungalow, so young people get the joy of living with other children of similar age, and each bungalow has a great communal area for relaxing evenings after a busy day at school.

Whether children are staying with us for a short break or attending school at Stanmore House, our goal is to create a nurturing, caring environment where every child gets the care and support they deserve.

We benefit from a great rural setting of lush, green countryside with extensive gardens on campus. We like caring for animals and have our own chickens and rabbits, as well as seeing the animals of our neighbouring farms. Our open grounds make the perfect place for a summer’s barbecue or school sports day.

The school and the residential campus have a range of offerings for our residents to enjoy, not only to ensure they are getting great care and support but are also having fun whilst living with us.

We have a fantastic indoor pool for a splash about or some hydrotherapy, a rebound therapy room, sensory experiences and stories, an on-site cinema and beauty salon, and we love getting involved in our local community at Lanark, too.

Stanmore House Residential provides a dedicated allied health support team around the clock. We offer:

• Speech and language therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Dietary support

We know it’s important to have help on hand, so we only employ expertly trained allied health professional to ensure our care and support is the best it can be.

We are passionate about providing a ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ approach, meaning that we focus on the health, well-being, and positive outcomes for every young person on an individual level. We might work together on lots of things, but the individual is always at the heart of our support.
